Winter Wonderland!

In case you thought it was all hype, here's the view out our back door in the kitchen. Looks like 18.5 inches to me!Here's a few more pictures of our winter wonderland. Wish we could find a babysitter to watch the kids while we took a romantic stroll tonight!

Yup, that's our car . . .

Snow!

We had a fun day in the snow! It was quite a job just keep the walk shoveled. Gavin had a blast. Each and every time he got outside, he refused to come back in without some serious encouragement!
Looking out our back door, we're approaching at least 20 inches!

You Can't Catch Me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!

Given the frigid temperatures, we decided to stay home and start our Christmas baking. Gavin was a big helper cutting out the gingerbread boys and girls. Yummy!

Merry Molly!

Our little girl is rewarding us with lots of beautiful smiles and giggles these days! Here's a picture that we snapped today . . .

Harper's Ferry Outing

We had a fun visit to Harper's Ferry visit today. We hiked up to Jefferson's Rock and then down into the town. It was a beautiful day.

Our kiddos are certainly quite the hiking companions! Gavin particularly enjoyed getting to see a family of three deer along the trail.

Smiles and Coos

The other day, we captured some fun Molly smiles and coos on video. Enjoy!

Molly's First Few Weeks in Video

We've been slow to post video, but here's some clips in order of oldest to newest. Even though our baby girl is giving us lots of smiles and coos, we haven't yet been able to capture her cutest moments on video. We'll keep trying!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! We started the day marching in a parade with our play school friends. Then we stopped by our friend's welcome brunch for their new baby Rachel. Molly slept through both of these events. Everyone is in the process of napping this afternoon to ensure lots of time for trick or treating tonight.

Enjoy the pictures of Gavin's train engineer costume and Molly's sweet ride!

Molly's First Hike

We took a drive out to Shenandoah National Park with Auntie Laura today. It was a pretty drive -- lots of fall colors. We found some apples and cider along the way. Then had a yummy lunch at the Skyland Lodge followed by a short climb to the top of Pass Mountain.

On our way back down the mountain as we approached the road, we saw a bunch of cars pulled over. It turns out that they were all looking at a bear and two cubs as they walked along right behind Rob and Gavin on the trail. We never actually saw them, but they were so close that everyone couldn't believe we missed them!

Sunday in the Country!

We spent the afternoon at South Mountain Creamery enjoying their fall festival and then stopped by a pumpkin patch on the way home. We tasted homemade ice cream, visited the calf barn, and enjoyed a hayride. It was a fun day, but we're all beat!

Mmm! Apple Pie!

It's apple pie season. And this year, I'm lucky to have a new helper. With Gavin's help and this great apple peeler from Nonnie and Pops, we're able to make pie in no time! It gets even better with Rob's cinnamon ice cream. Mmm. good!

Last Zoo Class!

Gavin's last zoo class had us learning about anteaters. Did you know they have two foot long tongues and carry their babies on their backs for one whole year?

We also stopped by to check out the pandas on our way out of the zoo. There's nothing better than a milk crate drizzled in honey to cure boredom on a rainy day. If only, two year olds were so easy!

Five Weeks Old!

Wow! Our baby girl is five weeks old today. She's starting to smile and coo. She also quiets down when her big brother is talking.
We're really enjoying our fall with the kiddos. If things continue to dry out here, we're going to try a short hike in the Shenandoahs on Thursday. Hopefully, we'll have some fun pictures to share.

Farm Fun!

On Sunday, we went to a Harvest Festival at a lovely state agricultural farm park in Maryland. There were all sorts of fabulous activities for the kids like potato digging, hay rides, and farm animals. Gavin even made his mommy a beautiful tussie mussie with help from a master gardener. Enjoy the pictures!

Three Weeks Old

Molly is three weeks old and probably pushing the 10 lb mark this week. She's becoming more alert every day. It's fun to see her eyes more often and watch her take in her surroundings.
Even with our fancy camera, we're discovering that it's tough to take good pictures of a newborn. We'll keep at it though!

More Zoo Class

Gavin learned about gorillas during his zoo class on Friday. Rob captured some great pictures of the gorillas and orangutans. This week, we'll learn about frogs.

Gavin at Zoo Class!

Gavin attended his first Zoo Babies class at the National Zoo on Friday. He learned all about flamingos. According to Grammy, he was a very good student. Next week, we learn about gorillas!

One Week Old

It's hard to believe little Miss Molly is already one week old. She's doing just great. Gavin continues to be very intrigued by her. His favorite things are giving her kisses and sharing his cars and trains with her. Molly doesn't quite appreciate these acts of sibling love.
Here's a picture of Molly at one week and a similar one of Gavin at about the same age. There's definite similarities and differences.

We're Home!

We arrived home yesterday just after lunch. Molly was a trouper in the car seat on the way home. She also got lots of compliments leaving the hospital.
Gavin's spending today at the Baltimore Aquarium with Nonnie and Pops while Rob and I try to catch up on some sleep and bond with our little girl. So precious!
We've finally posted some pictures from Molly's first few days to Kodak Gallery. You can check them out at http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLanding.action?c=15ea5ixa.8q7zth1i&x=0&h=1&y=-9pz43t&localeid=en_US.

The Sweetest Greeting!

Yesterday, Gavin met his baby sister, Molly. He was a very sweet big brother and checked out her fingers, toes, and nose. Molly gave her big brother a present: a new Thomas train named Molly! For the time being, he thinks that she's a pretty cool little sister.
