Happy 4th of July!

We spent the Fourth of July in Connecticut again this year.  It was very special because the kids got to meet their cousin, Mallory, for the first time!  She's the cutest, happiest little baby!  You don't have to take my word for it, just check out the photos below.

Aunt Emily suggested to Gavin that he set up a lemonade stand for the Shea family picnic.  With 35 captive customers, he pulled in quite a profit (despite Molly helping herself)!

DC Birthday Party!

No, this isn't an Independence Day post.  (That will come later . . . .)  It's a belated post about Gavin's 4th birthday party in DC, which we celebrated over Memorial Day weekend.

Our trip back to DC got off to a bit of a rough start with several flight cancellations, but we made it in time for Gavin's party and spent a little bit of our delay exploring the Dayton riverfront park.

Due to threatening thunderstorms (which never surfaced) and a cautious mom, we had Gavin's birthday party at an indoor venue for the first time.  It turned out to be a great space for the kids to run and romp. 

Gavin especially enjoyed catching up on small talk with his buddy Jack (above) and playing on the playground with his other buddies (below).

Molly was quick to fit in with all the big kids at the birthday table when the cake was served.  Yum!
