Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! We started the day marching in a parade with our play school friends. Then we stopped by our friend's welcome brunch for their new baby Rachel. Molly slept through both of these events. Everyone is in the process of napping this afternoon to ensure lots of time for trick or treating tonight.

Enjoy the pictures of Gavin's train engineer costume and Molly's sweet ride!

Molly's First Hike

We took a drive out to Shenandoah National Park with Auntie Laura today. It was a pretty drive -- lots of fall colors. We found some apples and cider along the way. Then had a yummy lunch at the Skyland Lodge followed by a short climb to the top of Pass Mountain.

On our way back down the mountain as we approached the road, we saw a bunch of cars pulled over. It turns out that they were all looking at a bear and two cubs as they walked along right behind Rob and Gavin on the trail. We never actually saw them, but they were so close that everyone couldn't believe we missed them!

Sunday in the Country!

We spent the afternoon at South Mountain Creamery enjoying their fall festival and then stopped by a pumpkin patch on the way home. We tasted homemade ice cream, visited the calf barn, and enjoyed a hayride. It was a fun day, but we're all beat!

Mmm! Apple Pie!

It's apple pie season. And this year, I'm lucky to have a new helper. With Gavin's help and this great apple peeler from Nonnie and Pops, we're able to make pie in no time! It gets even better with Rob's cinnamon ice cream. Mmm. good!

Last Zoo Class!

Gavin's last zoo class had us learning about anteaters. Did you know they have two foot long tongues and carry their babies on their backs for one whole year?

We also stopped by to check out the pandas on our way out of the zoo. There's nothing better than a milk crate drizzled in honey to cure boredom on a rainy day. If only, two year olds were so easy!

Five Weeks Old!

Wow! Our baby girl is five weeks old today. She's starting to smile and coo. She also quiets down when her big brother is talking.
We're really enjoying our fall with the kiddos. If things continue to dry out here, we're going to try a short hike in the Shenandoahs on Thursday. Hopefully, we'll have some fun pictures to share.

Farm Fun!

On Sunday, we went to a Harvest Festival at a lovely state agricultural farm park in Maryland. There were all sorts of fabulous activities for the kids like potato digging, hay rides, and farm animals. Gavin even made his mommy a beautiful tussie mussie with help from a master gardener. Enjoy the pictures!

Three Weeks Old

Molly is three weeks old and probably pushing the 10 lb mark this week. She's becoming more alert every day. It's fun to see her eyes more often and watch her take in her surroundings.
Even with our fancy camera, we're discovering that it's tough to take good pictures of a newborn. We'll keep at it though!

More Zoo Class

Gavin learned about gorillas during his zoo class on Friday. Rob captured some great pictures of the gorillas and orangutans. This week, we'll learn about frogs.
